about Kenya
WELCOME.
I am a Craniosacral Biodynamics practitioner in Santa Cruz, CA, conveniently located in Midtown. I have worn many hats throughout my life and bring a relatable, warm and grounded presence to every session. My mission is to be in service to life and all that is life giving. I facilitate safety and space to help you remember and connect you back to your health, that which ignites the aliveness within you. I believe the better we can integrate the inevitable difficulties that occur in life the more space we have to celebrate and cultivate love, joy, creativity, and laughter!
ABOUT THE work
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a healing modality that uses subtle touch and deep trust in the body’s wisdom to naturally arise to its inherent Health. Its influence is born out of osteopathy which is directly rooted from traditional indigenous Shawnee bodywork. This therapeutic practice differs from manual therapies like massage and physical therapy, it is non aggressive and very gentle. We arrive at nervous system regulation, ease, balance, integration and vitality. During sessions you are able to tap into your own source of health to bring harmony within your physical, emotional, spiritual and mental bodies.
In a session I incorporate all my trainings, workshops, intuitive gifts and treasured wisdom from my teachers to bring you a bespoke experience tailored to meet you exactly where you are in the present moment. Elements I may draw upon include but are not limited to hypnotherapy, somatic experiencing, pre and perinatal psychology, manifestation work, myofascial release, pelvic work, innate physiological birth and postpartum care+facial reflexology. During the session, I gently and lovingly place my hands on different areas of the body, always with invitation and permission. This constant communication is mainly done in reverent stillness and silence but we do also check in aloud as we move through the session, allowing the Health to guide us.
It is with deep gratitude and a great honor to have the gift of your whole being on my table.

I found this work during my Innate Traditions holistic postpartum doula program. I was connected to experienced birth workers and bodyworkers from all around the world who are passionate about physiological birth and postpartum care. They shared their real world wisdom from their hands on work. I learned how much nervous system regulation can affect birth outcomes and how epigenetic traumas are passed down. That’s where I was introduced to Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy as an integral support of the pre-conception, conception, birth and postpartum periods. In perfect timing, I was able to receive my first BCST session and learn that our local practitioner was starting a training a few short months away. I decided to sign up on a whim and the program has been transforming and life altering.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy has personally helped me truly meet my most radiant self and shed many self limiting beliefs. It has also helped me immensely with injuries i’ve suffered from car accidents and from being a competitive athlete for most of my life. Receiving regular sessions was paramount in my nearly 2 year journey to conceive. I credit the work, among other supports for my smooth pregnancy, birth and postpartum time.

We will spend the first 10-45 min (depending on session length) chatting about what is coming up for you. The next 5 min will be spent getting you as comfortable as possible on the table, you will be fully clothed. Another 2-5 minutes will be used to settle myself in and open the session. I am also available to support you in settling too. Depending on your session length the next 40-75ish minutes are hands on work which will include a 5-10min integration period as we close. Then another 2-5min for you to gather yourself and be on your way. There is an add- on option for longer integration time on the table after your session.
Kenya Fire's sessions include a unique approach that incorporate all her trainings and wisdom under the umbrella of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. This holistic practice is based on the comprehensive model of inherent health that encourages harmony in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. It is centered around amplifying your innate ability of self regulation and self healing rather than targeting and labeling parts as dis-ease. The client’s own agency and participatory efforts in their health are a key factor in the success of these therapies.
The practice may include both in-person and remote sessions, tailored to the client’s needs and comfort. Sessions begin with an inquiry into the client's intentions and wellness goals in body, mind, and spirit. This is followed by supportive attention to the body-mind system through listening and dialogue, presence, curiosity, focusing on internal experiences and shifts in energy, and during in person sessions, therapeutic touch. For remote sessions, guidance for self-directed touch is provided. Attention to diet, movement, and lifestyle choices is integral to the holistic health journey and may be discussed as part of the work together depending on the client’s goals.
The nature of therapeutic touch in this practice differs from other kinds of manual therapy like massage or physical therapy. The client remains clothed throughout the session and all touch is intended as non-sensual and non-aggressive. It is another form of listening to and unlocking the inherent health and energy in the body-mind system. The practitioner follows protocols to insure the client’s safety and wellbeing so the touch is not directed by the client’s whims or requests as it might in a massage. If the client is uncomfortable at any point for any reason in the process, the practitioner should be alerted to make adjustments. Consent to receive touch can be withdrawn at an any time.

“Because of the gentle non-invasive nature of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST), there are few contraindications for treatment. Everyone can benefit - the work can enjoyed by newborns, elders, the frail or those who are ill. The improvement after a session may be subtle or dramatic. BCST encourages health in the brain and nervous system, has been known to be effective in assisting the prevention of chronic conditions.”

“Anecdotal evidence shows BCST may be helpful in addressing such situations as impingement of cranial nerves or spinal nerves, left-right imbalances, head injuries, confusion, feelings of compression or pressure, anxiety, depression, circulatory disorders, organ dysfunctions, learning difficulties, neuro-endocrine problems, TMJ and dental problems, and trauma of all kinds — birth, falls, accidents and other injuries, physical, sexual or emotional abuse, loss/grief, surgery, anesthesia, P.T.S.D., among others.
BCST is also excellent as a preventive therapy because it can facilitate the resolution of imbalances within a patient/client’s system that can later lead to illness or injury.”
“The therapy may surprise you with benefits you hadn’t known were possible, including resolution of symptoms that you had no idea were related to the cranial system or to each other. You may feel lighter, with a sense of more spaciousness within yourself. You may notice more ease in relationships or ability to focus.
You may stand straighter or breathe more easily and deeply. Pains may decrease and emotional boundaries may be easier to maintain. It is likely that you will feel deeply relaxed and centered. Because each person is unique, it is impossible for us to say exactly what benefit you will feel, or how long it will take you to feel it, but the above comments are quite common.”

“Receiving a cranio session with Kenya is an unparalleled experience. She creates a soothing and welcoming space with her genuine care and loving attention. Holding kind presence she opens a world of possibility for deep connection to self, body, spirit, and the mystery of energies beyond the 5 senses. I highly recommend Kenya and her offerings to anyone who would benefit from slowing down, tuning in, and allowing healing to unfold..”

“I walked into this session pretty unexpectedly.
I had a CS session many years ago.
My experience with Kenya was transcendent.
Kenya created a safe and secure space for me to absorb my healing and experience.”
— Laura Macondray
I saw Kenya for Cranio-sacral therapy. As a bodyworker of 2 years I can say I have never experienced such a release as I have from our session. With her work we were able to identify areas of pain, both physical and spiritual, that I have been addressing since our session. Kenya’s skill, knowledge, and bedside manner qualify her as an apt provider of therapeutic touch and relationship. She is truly gifted.

“What I experienced were moments of clarity and epiphany as well as moments of being overwhelmed by emotion. I can’t quite put into words how it felt during the session but, afterward, I left with a great sense of calmness & peace that I didn’t feel before I came in. Overall it was a fantastic experience and one I would happily repeat.
